Each year, the Institute of Theology at RWTH Aachen University appoints a high-profile scholar to the renowned Hemmerle Visiting Professorship, which is concerned with interdisciplinary and interdepartmental questions.

In the upcoming summer semester, this year’s Hemmerle Visiting Professor, Hans-Dieter Mutschler, will give a series of lectures surrounding consciousness research and the philosophy of technology.

The lecture series, titled “Are Humans Computers? On the Relationship between Dignity and Manipulation,” will discuss the societal changes brought about by technological progress within the last 150 years. Thus, Mutschler, whose key research areas include natural philosophy, philosophy of technology, and the dialogue between the sciences and theology, is concerned with questions that are essential for the future of our society.

The lectures are scheduled to take place Tuesdays between 6:15 and 7:45 pm, starting April 18. Attendance is free of charge; anyone interested is invited to attend.
