The lecture entitled "At the Scene of the Big Bang – Treasure Hunt at the Particle Zoo" by RWTH professor Dr. Robert Harlander of the Institute for Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology takes place on Saturday, November 26, 2016, from 11am to 12:30pm in lecture hall Fo2 at the Kármán auditorium, Eilfschornsteinstraße 15.

Some 14 billion years ago our universe came into existence. Just like detectives, physicists try to combine their collected observations to come to a theory. With our state of knowledge today, they can now retrace the development of the universe all the way up to just a few seconds after the so-called big bang – the birth of the universe. With their experiments at the particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider, at the CERN laboratory, the scientists hope to delve even further into the past and perhaps be able to devise a theory that describes the big bang itself.

Admission is free of charge, registration is not required.
