National Instruments, NI, the renowned manufacturer of hardware and software tools for engineers and scientists is funding research and education at RWTH Aachen. The company is supporting the Institute of Networked Systems or iNETS through funds for equipment and grants. Phil Hester, Senior Vice-President R & D at NI made the announcement during a discussion held in honor of the ten-year anniversary of the Aachen institute. The funding encompasses the most modern research equipment, technical support, and a student support grant. A large portion of the funds will go to the research group for self-organizing networks, SON, within iNETS, which is headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marina Petrova.

The support aims at improving the research in the field of cognitive radio systems, future wireless communication systems, and 60 GHz radio technologies. Furthermore there will also be excellent possibilities to strengthen the institute's teaching.

National Instruments, founded in Austin, Texas, is one of the worldwide leading providers of measurement, testing, and embedded systems for engineers and scientists. In 2012, National Instruments Germany won recognition in a competition as "Germany's Best Employer" for the seventh time.
