The HPC Department aims to assist users at RWTH Aachen University and in the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia in the effective use of the central High Performance Computing (HPC) systems at RWTH Aachen on both Linux and Windows operating systems.
Users are trained and supported in serial and parallel programming, debugging, correctness analysis, runtime analysis and tuning, first and foremost using the programming languages Fortran, C, C++, Java, and MatLab. The main focus lies on parallelization through message passing with MPI and multithreading, especially with OpenMP.
Our team seeks to promote the further develop the OpenMP specification in an international committee. Our members of staff conduct research in subject areas that contribute to enhancing the efficiency, quality and reliability of simulations running on supercomputers.
